SÃndrome de muerte súbita del lactante (sids)
The County of Kings has chosen to delegate their SIDS responsibilities, according to the 1974 Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Act to Public Health Nursing (PHN).
When the Field Nursing Unit is notified of a possible SIDS death, the SIDS Coordinator or a PHN is assigned to contact the family immediately and arrange a home visit. Assessment, information, counseling and case management are the cornerstones of PHN services following a possible SIDS death. The PHN role also includes functioning as a case manager allowing the nurse to be responsive to the needs of the families and caregivers.
